This edition includes another excerpt from Amma’s Man and Nature; how the Mid South region is putting its trees where its mouth is; how to encourage the return of vanishing bird species; how to keep a garden going throughout the winter; reusing through the art of darning; and how to restore our habitats to their natural state.

The time of the recent winter solstice has us looking inside and the new year is upon us. It is time for looking inward with our minds and having compassion in our hearts. Amma says:

Even the longest journey starts with the first small step. Let each of us welcome the new year by starting to make small changes in our life. If each of us can do this– who knows– it may mark the beginning of a new age altogether. Let us surrender it to the Paramatman and move forward together with one mind towards a single goal. Amma wishes all her children a very happy new year.

GreenFriends strives to communicate the importance of treating Nature with respect and gratitude. We invite each of you Green Friends to share your ideas and experiences with your own gardening efforts as well as experiences with nature.
